Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF) is a membrane-based separation technology widely used in biopharmaceutical processing for concentrating, purifying, and exchanging the buffer of biological products. Unlike conventional dead-end filtration, TFF continuously circulates the process fluid tangentially across the membrane surface, helping reduce membrane fouling while enabling efficient processing of sensitive biological materials.
TFF systems are commonly used for applications such as ultrafiltration (UF), diafiltration (DF), protein concentration, buffer exchange, and purification of monoclonal antibodies, recombinant proteins, vaccines, viral vectors, and other biopharmaceutical products. Depending on the process requirements, TFF technologies can be implemented from small-scale process development through clinical and commercial manufacturing.
At SartoMax, we provide a portfolio of Sartorius Bioprocess Solutions (BPS) TFF technologies designed to support different stages of biopharmaceutical development and production. From high-throughput process screening and laboratory-scale development to larger-scale TFF operations, these solutions provide flexibility, process control, and scalability.
Our portfolio includes automated small-scale systems, modular benchtop TFF platforms, and TFF filter holders designed to accommodate different membrane formats and process scales.
